Danish architects Bjarke Ingels Group (BIG) will show a LEGO model of their LEGO Towers project for an upcoming exhibition at Storefront for Architecture and Design in New York.
The 1:50 scale model uses 250,000 bricks and took five weeks to build.
A time-lapse movie showing the construction of the model is on YouTube.
The exhibition, called BIG City, presents five proposals for high-density living at the gallery, and opens on 2 October.
LEGO Towers is a proposal for a residential, retail and hotel development in Copenhagen. More info on BIG’s website.

LAN建筑事务所设计出了这样一个双层表皮的住宅建筑。这是一个竞赛方案，虽然他们最终没能赢得这个竞赛，但是该方案却有着众多特有的亮点。方案运用了双层表皮技术，因此建筑的结构体系个性鲜明。双层表皮有助于建筑的保温隔热，并且最外层的表皮可以通过上面的光电板产生能源。外侧表皮含有META材料，能够常年起到遮阳作用，为建筑提供高质量的热功性能。设计还致力于将集合住宅集成到竖向高层建筑中。建筑被南侧和西侧的公园分隔开来，可以俯瞰巴黎。

LAN architecture designed this double skinned residential building for a competition in paris. although they
eventually lost out in the competition the building has a number of unique features worth highlighting.
the structure of the building is rather distinct because it uses a double skin that helps insulate the building,
while the outer most skin produces energy through photovoltaic cells. composed of meta, this outer layer
would also serve as a sun barrier all year long, giving the building high thermal performance. the design of
the building aimed to integrate compact living in a vertical tower. the building would have bordered a park
on the south and west, overlooking the city of paris.

Photographer Paul Clemence shared with us some photos of 100 11th Ave, a residential tower in Chelsea by Jean Nouvel.

This building is almost complete, and it has a strong presence from across the river, or when seen from the High Line. I remember that a month ago, I was looking at it from the High Line and a lady next to me said “how old is that building?”. Despite the fact of its high tech curtain wall, using 1647 different window panels, the building looks ancient, almost like a left over from the old waterfront.

The variation of the windows is not only on their size, but also the inclination and the glass tint, giving this building a unique facade.

一年半前，OMA在概念设计阶段发布了新加坡一住宅项目的第一组图片。简单的说，这是一组低层体块的叠置。
今天OMA发来了这个名叫“交织”（The Interlace)的最新信息，其中包括更多的细节。
项目位于城市外围绿化带上，由31个叠置的公寓体块构成。每个体块6层高，大小相同。整个项目共17万平方米，有1040个公寓。
这个项目有趣的地方是，这么多零散的体块如何组织成一个如此高密度住宅体，但同时又保证私密性和从效果图中看到的长范围的视线景观。
叠置的策略带来的第二个结构是，公共空间可以与热带植物交织在一起。从平面图上看，块与块之间的空旷空间形成了一系列内庭院。从而使次项目形成了一个丰满的竖向社区，而不是此区域中随处可见的单调塔楼项目。大量的住宅辅助设施也交融在这篇绿色中，为社会交流、休闲和娱乐提供了大量机会。

A year and a half ago, OMA unveiled the first images for a residential project in Singapore, on schematic design phase. Basically it was a set of stacked low-rise blocks.

Today OMA sent us an update on this project, The Interlace, and more details appear.

The project is located on a green belt outside the capital city, and consists on 31 stacked apartment blocks, each six-stories tall and identical in length, resulting in 170,000sqm of gross floor area for 1,040 apartments.

What is interesting about the project is how these stacked volumes achieve a high density, while still maintaining privacy and long-range views as you can see on the renderings.

The second result of this “stacked” strategy, are the common spaces filled with tropical green. By looking at the plan view of the complex, a series of inner courtyards appear on the empty spaces between the blocks. The project turns then into a rich vertical community, apart from the single tower projects seen in the area. Extensive residential amenities and facilities are interwoven into the lush vegetation and offer opportunities for social interaction, leisure, and recreation.

Above-ground vehicular circulation is minimized, liberating large green areas within the development. The Interlace incorporates sustainability features through careful environmental analysis of sun, wind, and micro-climate conditions on site and the integration of low-impact passive energy strategies.
The design is led by Ole Scheeren together with Eric Chang, Associate of OMA.

Ole Scheeren, a partner for  Office for Metropolitan Architecture (OMA) and project leader of the recently completed Beijing’s CCTV Tower, considered among the world’s most imaginative contemporary architectural feats.  With the tower complete, Scheeren has moved to design his first skyscraper, entitled MahaNakhon, “a dazzling, pixelated 77-storey tower,” that will rise to be the tallest building in Bangkok.  With approximately 150,000 square meters, MahaNakhon will include a lush urban oasis with public gardens and a major transportation hub, luxury retail, residences, a new public square, and a five-star hotel created by New York’s Ian Schrager.
Mahanakohn’s “distinctive sculptural appearance” offers a pixelated effect as the solid tower is carefully carved into. These spaces become “excavated portions of the elegant glass curtain wall to reveal the inner life of the building metaphorically and actually an architecture that encloses  and protects its inhabitants while revealing the inner life of their city.”  The protrusions create beautiful balconies with uninterrupted views over the city as well as larger areas for greenery.
In addition to the tower, a smaller freestanding 7-storey building, known as the cube, offers multi-level indoor/outdoor terraces with an extensive mix of dining and leisure facilities.  These facilities activate the lower levels as the general public will have access via a direct above-ground pedestrian link.

The skyscrapper is due to be completed by 2012.

Meir Lobaton + Kristjan Donaldson recently shared their design for a 36 story residential tower in Mexico City, Mexico. The project addressed the balance between the desire of living in a single-family residence with the cost of the land.

The residential tower provides the family the luxury of living in an apartment building without sacrificing the comfort of a backyard.  Gardens located on every level try to break with the dichotomy between land and building, and, more importantly, provide an area that is attractive and functional for the family members.
Each floor plan is organized around a single apartment type that is 400 square meters with a gardened extension of approximately 160 square meters.  By rotating the apartments 90 degrees at successive levels, the gardens sit above the cantilevered bedrooms of the apartment below.
The shifting horizontal floor planes provide adequate space for full trees to grow. This shifting also balances the greenery, creating a blend of structure and nature, rather than allowing one element to dominate and the second to feel like an after-thought.  The internal living areas are organized to take full advantage of the gardens which adds a feeling of openness to the residences.

Due to the volatile seismic condition that characterizes Mexico City, a system of deep shear walls and Vierendeel trusses stabilizes the structure while accommodating the rotating floor plans.

特别喜欢新加坡那个交织的住宅，真太有创意了。这才是建筑。

我们现在也作高层住宅总感觉要解决现在住房不够问题一梯多户又提高质量通风采光
结果会很现实规范尺度
墨西哥那个太奢华~
